What is digital Print?
Digital printing is a method of printing from a digital-based image (Generally PDF format) directly on to a variety of Paper Media.
Digital printing has a higher cost per page than more traditional offset (lithographic) printing methods, but this price is usually offset on smaller printing requirements by avoiding the cost of all the technical steps required to make printing plates.
It also allows for on-demand printing, short turnaround time, and even a modification of the image (variable data) used for each impression.
The main difference between digital printing and traditional lithography, is that there is no need for the production of printing plates.
This results in quicker turnaround time and lower set up cost, but typically a loss of some fine-image detail.
This method applies toner which does not permeate the substrate, as does conventional ink, but forms a thin layer on the surface adhered to the substrate by using a fuser fluid with heat.
Why Print Digitally?
Quick Turnaround
The digital print process uses dry toner, which does not require any drying of wet ink. This makes it the most suitable process for quick turnaround print jobs as they can be finished directly after being printed. If you require urgent same-day or next day printing digital printing is the perfect solution.
Cost Effective
Digital printing has evolved over the years to a high standard which now allows for very high quality image reproduction. This is beneficial and the perfect solution for short run printing of any most items as it requires minimal setup and prints direct from a high resolution PDF. with the improvement in digital printing technology most post printing finishes can be applied to digital printing - including lamination, foiling, booklets, die cutting etc.
